Top Tips When Choosing Printed Balloons

Here’s our guide to getting the most out of your exhibition or event using custom printed balloons with your company logo. 5 steps to follow when choosing printed balloons to get the most out of them.

Step 1 – Pick a Size

The most popular sizes that balloon printing suppliers offer is 10” or 12”.It may seem like an obvious choice to pick the 12-inch variant, however, the added costs of helium may make this unviable. A 10-inch balloon offers a large enough surface area to fit most company logos and branding.

Step 2 – Choose a Finish

The metallic shine looks better if decorating an event or party. The plain latex finish is better for promotional giveaways. In our experience, a metallic finish offers a bigger wow factor and is more likely to draw the attention of the audience.

Step 3 - Self Seal or Ribboned Valves?

If you’re inflating large quantities of balloons on a single day, for example over 100 balloons, you’ll probably want to go for the valves to save tying knots which is not only much quicker, your fingers will thank you at the end of the day. If you only need to inflate 30 or 40 then tying knots is better because the balloons will be lighter and float longer without the valves. The valves do not look good for corporate party decorations, it’s best to hand tie with matching coloured ribbon or find a local balloon professional to do it for you.

Step 4 – Cups or Sticks?

You only need these if you’re air filling and giving the balloons away. You do not need cups and sticks when helium filling and they are difficult to use for party decorations because they don’t stand up (they’re designed to be held by hand). It’s a good cost effective alternative if you don’t have the budget for helium or the area you’re working will not allow helium. If you’re inflating a large quantity of air you’ll need an electric air inflator.

Step 5 – Get the Artwork File Right

On most occasions, a PDF or JPEG file will be fine if you’re going for a 1 colour print. If your logo is more complicated we’ll need an EPS or .ai fil. This is more effective at separating the layers of colours that make up a logo. Most balloon logos will need to restructure to cover an area of around 10cm by 10cm.
